Pawtuckaway State Park

Pawtuckaway State Park is Probably The Most Popular Of All The New Hampshire State Parks

Pawtuckaway is located in the south eastern part of New Hampshire and covers over 5,000 acres of land cloaked with beautiful oak and hemlock forests. The park is named after the Pawtuckaway Mountains and the wonderful lake on whose western shores it sits.

There are a large number of activities available at Pawtuckaway State Park and it is very much a family orientated site.

However, at weekends and during really good weather the park can become extremely busy, some reviews mention that it can get noisy with people partying.

A Stunning Sunset Over Pawtuckaway Lake

The beautiful Pawtuckaway Lake is 783 acres in size and has a large number of pretty coves and small, attractive islands. It is very much the central attraction at the park and the beach is wonderful for children.

Fishing and kayaking are both popular and kayaks can be rented at the camp store in the park. There is a boat launch onto the lake and it can often be used by power boats and jet skiers.

It is possible to camp at Pawtuckaway from the middle of May through to the middle of October. To deal with the demand there are 195 sites nesting in attractive wooded positions around the lake. There are no hook-ups at the park but RV`s are still welcome.

The campgrounds provide showers, flush toilets and a camp store. Youth group camping can be arranged by reservation only. (See the contact details below.) There are also five beautiful rental cabins each of which sleeps six people.

Daylight View Of Pawtuckaway Lake

Pawtuckaway also has a group use area which is seperate from the day use area, it has a large shelter with fireplace and barbecue pit and a ballfield. It is ideal for works outings or a family reunion

One of the attractions of Pawtuckaway State Park is its fine location. It is only a short drive away from the beaches of the New Hampshire coast and the Pawtuckaway Mountains offer some superb hiking through the forests and the chance to see wonderful wildlife in its natural setting.
