Cedar Bluff State Park

One Of The Finest Of The Kansas State Parks Attracting A Quarter Of A Million Visitors Annually

Located in Trego County, Kansas, Cedar Bluff State Park is over 1,100 acres of land spread over two seperate areas on the shores of the Cedar Bluff Reservoir.

Construction of the reservoir began in 1949 with the aim of providing irrigation and recreational facilities to the area. It was completed and the reservoir filled two years later. In 1962 it was officially designated as a State Park and opened to the public.

The first and most developed part of the park is along the north shore of the reservoir and is called the Bluffton Area and it covers around 350 acres.

The facilities in this area include 96 utility campsites with two community shelters, two shower houses and boat ramps. There is also a group campsite for utilities which can be reserved. Also five modern cabins have recently been built and are for rent. In this Bluffton area there are numerous primitive campsites and large numbers of picnic areas.

The second area is on the south side of the reservoir and known as Page Creek, although larger it is not as developed. However, the primitive camping here among the shade trees is fantastic. Here there are 36 utility campsites with a community shelter and two shower houses. You can enjoy all the facilities of the reservoir that the Bluffton area has but the Page Creek site offers the visitors more solitude.

The Bluffs at Cedar Bluff S. P.

A little to the west of the Page Creek area you can find the reason how the park got its name. Here there are some 100 feet high limestone bluffs lined with Juniper trees, apparently the old pioneers who named the area often confused Junipers for Cedars!

Here are the contact details, including phone number, for the park.
