Buckskin Mountain State Park Is One Of The Most Popular Arizona State Parks For Fishing And Swimming
Located on 1,677 acres of land in La Paz County, Arizona Buckskin Mountain is on the banks of the Colorado River close to the town of Parker.
In the area where the park stands, the river forms the border between Arizona and its neighbor California.
The park is in two separate units one and a half miles apart.
The other section is called the River Island State Park, or more commonly, the River Island Unit. That also is situated on the Colorado River.
The Campsite By The River At Buckskin Mountain S.P.
The campground at the park is well laid out and its sixty eight sites are all only a short distance from the river. The sites are for both tents and trailers and all have electric and water as well as BBQ grills and picnic tables.
Situated right beside the river are 21 Cabanas. These have a concrete floor and roof and two and a half walls. They are open to the elements but during the summer months are cool and comfortable and are a different way to enjoy the camping experience.
On the northern side of the park is a market and a restaurant. Although closed during the winter months, at other times the market sells a good selection of foodstuff as well as firewood, ice and gasoline.
The Visitor Center At Buckskin Mountain
The Colorado River at Buckskin Mountain State Park is not only a wonderful place for a cooling swim when it is hot but is also a notable fishing spot.
Anglers can try for bass, catfish, carp, sunfish and bluegill and there is also a convenient boat ramp close to the market where you can launch your craft.
All in all this one of the Arizona State Parks is a lovely place to spend a short break.
